INTRODUCTION
 
Companies incorporated in the United Kingdom remain the third largest foreign investors in India. In recent years with the increase in overseas expansion by Indian companies, India has also emerged as the third largest investor in the UK. This emerging trend of cross border deals between India and UK presents significant legal challenges and complexities for companies in India and UK alike. With the aim to explore, discuss, debate and share our experience in respect of such cross border deals, Nishith Desai Associates in collaboration with Weil, Gotshal & Manges is organizing a round table discussion on June 28, 2013 in Mumbai.

Vaibhav Parikh is a partner and heads the Bangalore office of Nishith Desai Associates. In addition to his management responsibilities, he heads the Fund Investment practice of the firm. He is also regarded as an expert in IT, Telecom and Media. He has been nominated by ‘Who's Who Legal’ as one of the world's leading practitioners for Regulatory Communications. He is a Charter Member of TiE, Bangalore Chapter and is also on the executive council of the Franchising Association of India.   Peter King is a partner in the Corporate group in London. Peter is recognised as one of the leading lawyers in the London market in public and private M&A and equity capital markets. His principal areas of work are cross-border M&A and equity capital markets business, including leading major transaction work personally. Peter advises boards of directors on corporate governance and related issues, including the UK Bribery Act 2010.

Jamie Maples a partner in the firm's dispute resolution practice in London and a member of the International Arbitration Group.He regularly acts in a wide range of major international commercial disputes, both in arbitration and in court proceedings in variety of jurisdictions. These disputes have concerned a broad range of matters, including jurisdictional issues, joint venture agreements, shareholder rights, breach of warranty claims, confidentiality agreements and regulatory matters.   Nishchal Joshipura is a partner in the firm. He heads the Mergers & Acquisitions Practice Group at Nishith Desai Associates. Nishchal specializes in legal and tax structuring of cross-border transactions and assists clients on documentation and negotiation of mergers and acquisition (M&A) deals.
